The 2nd Annual BPQ BBQ Cook Off is accepting 20 competitors. We will have three categories Ribs, 2nd Meat, and a Side Dish. Car and Bike Show on Merchant street – Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The 2017 Car and Bike Show 2016 was the largest ever. We’re ready to do it again!!   Sponsored by Casey’s, JP Heating & Air in Belle Plaine and Professional Body Works in Wellington.

Carnival by WEEE Entertainment on 5th street – Friday thru Sunday

WEEE Entertainment Carnival runs April 7-9. Friday evening, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m., Saturday noon – 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Single tickets cost $3. Pay One Price tickets are $25. Save $5 by purchasing Pay One Price tickets in advance. Tickets can be purchased at City Building, JP Weigand, and Rothgeb Belle Plaine Lumber until Tuesday, April 4th. Advance tickets will also be available through the Belle Plaine schools until Friday, March 31st. PAY ONE PRICE Sessions: Friday 6 – 10 p.m. and Sunday 1-5 p.m.

Recorded Gospel music starts at 9 a.m. and Gospel SongFest at 3:30 p.m. on the Entertainment Stage at 5th & Merchant.

Design Contest

Official TULIP TIME 2017 Design Contest is sponsored by the Belle Plaine Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. The winning design will be used as the art for the print, t-shirt, and button for a uniform logo. Contest is open to all ages; to anyone that has a past or present connection to Belle Plaine. Read and complete Design Rules and Entry. Art must be submitted by February 24, 2017.

Experience the thrill of flight with DWTA Helicopter Rides as you soar over the Belle Plaine Tulip Time Festival viewing the awesome scenery, events, and exciting action from a breathtaking aerial perspective! Flights run Friday 5 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.

BPEF Home Run Derby @ Morley Field, 5th & Logan – Saturday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Home Run Derby is offered by the Belle Plaine Education Foundation. Categories from age 12 and up, age 18 and up and adults. Winners in each group. Proceeds benefit U357 students. Registration form

Kid’s Fest coordinated by FCCLA – Sunday 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Merchant

2017 Kids Fest  A day at the CIRCUS is planned with Puddles the Clown and LOTS of fun activities. Wear your Tulip time button and enjoy a fun afternoon at Kid’s Fest.

Parade – Saturday at noon

Entry Form. Enter a float for your group or organization in the 2017 Tulip Time Parade on Saturday, at Noon. See Parade Information for guidelines. Our 2017 theme “Trails of Tulips” commemorates the 150 year anniversary of the Chisholm Trail. TRAM WILL NOT RUN from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m.

Pet Show near Entertainment Stage – Saturday 8:30 a.m.

Do you have the cutest, smartest, biggest or most unique pet?  Wear your Tulip Time button & bring your pet to the Pet Show and see if you have this years wonder pet.

Photography Show @ BPCC – Saturday & Sunday

Open to all ages, to see eligibility, rules and categories Information . You will want to know what the Judges are looking for Judges Scoring and how your photo will be scored Photo Scoring. If you edit or enhance your photo be sure to include Edits and Enhancements. Be sure and label each of your entries with the Entry Form.

River Valley Rally – NOT ON THE 2017 SCHEDULE – COORDINATOR NEEDED

This Sports Challenge Relay Race started in 2011, involves running, basketball shooting, a baseball run & throw, football run & throw and cross country biking. Teams compete for the coveted, traveling “Stanley” the Rally Rat Trophy. WE’D LOVE TO ADD THIS EVENT TO THE 2018 TULIP TIME SCHEDULE. Scavenger Hunt @ BPCC – Sunday 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Scavenger Hunt – Grab a partner and test your sleuthing skills. Solve clues and take pictures within a 6 block area from downtown. First team with the most correct pics “answers” WINS. Prizes for top 3 teams. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Wear your Tulip Time Button. Register early – only 10 teams accepted.

Street Dance – Friday 8 p.m.

DJ Gabe Stewart will get this party started Friday evening.

We welcome Downward Spiral to Belle Plaine to perform at the Tulip Time 2017 Street Dance. Downward Spiral, a band based in Independence, MO plays mostly rock and country covers plus some fun originals!
Growing up in the midwest listening to a wide variety of music, the band’s influences range from southern to hard rock and metal to country and everything between. It’s gonna be a fun evening!

Talent Show – Saturday 6 p.m. and Sunday 2:30 p.m.

Belle Plaine has talent! Come and watch or be part of the show on Saturday at 6 p.m. on the Downtown Stage. Two entry divisions, Middle School and younger and High School and older. Dan & Randy’s Ugly Lamp Contest – Saturday 9-5 p.m. and Sunday noon – 2:30 p.m.

Enter an electric, working UGLY lamp or stop by and vote for your favorite at the Wray Auction House on W. 5th Ave. Proceeds support Children’s Mercy Hospital. See Rules.

Vendor Fair – Saturday 9 – 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 – 4 p.m.

Shop till you drop at Vendors Fair offering artisan designs, crafts, antiques, repurposed vintage pieces, shabby chic, direct sales, plants, food products, textiles, primitives and commercial goods. 100+ booth spaces available inside & outside on Merchant street and downtown. Inside vendors are located in the elementary school gym on Merchant.
